several of you have reported messages purporting to be from Freecycle staff, saying you've won money, and asking for your card details. Thanks so much for telling me, and (surprise, surprise), IT IS A SCAM!
As you know, everything about Freecycle is totally free, no money is involved when giving, receiving, moderating, or taking part in any way. That's part of our ethos - no cash is involved. And the same goes for any cash prizes - they simply don't exist.
Please report and delete any messages from someone pretending to be Freecycle staff ( I'm not even sure there are ANY paid staff, I think we're all volunteers). Please do not give them any personal information of any kind, in fact just don't engage with them at all. I will remove illegitimate members, but they can easily rejoin with a new username/email address, so please keep your eye out.
