This is another installment of how and what to recycle and then place on Freecycle(TM).
Reducing waste saves both materials and energy, and removes the need and expense of disposal. You can reduce waste by not buying disposable items, with less packaging, refusing unnecessary shopping bags and stopping junk mail.
Reusing reduces the need to buy new items, which in turn, saves resources.
Recycling saves valuable raw materials. Check our local area for recycling programs and locations such a for glass, which Waste Pro no longer picks up. I have heard that the Port Orange Fire Station will take glass. I don't know for sure. Our recycle program does pick up paper, cardboard, and newspapers. This is a big help in saving landfill space in our area.
All of the items I will mention, in this and following posts, can be salvaged and reused for one thing or another. Let us all pitch in and save the landfills from unnecessary wasted space. There are many things that can be used for alternative purposes other than what they were intended for. Everyone has something to offer.
Items to consider for recycling and placing on Freecycle.
Kids and kids toys:
Bicycle parts and old bikes for parts plus any bike no longer needed
Broken crayons
Jigsaw puzzles
Toys and games
Children's clothing- boys/girls, all sizes
Pet toys- even used and chewed and pet accessories like pet beds
Garden/Yard:
Garbage cans- old ones can be used for yard waste and compost bins
Garden hoses- even with holes as they can be cut up and used as drainage from a rain barrel
Miscellaneous yard things like old wheelbarrows that just might need a tire.
Sod, rocks, bricks, pavers, sod, dirt, plants, seeds and plant pots
Landscape material and renovation leftovers. Sheds, kid's playhouses, swing sets, tools, and car parts,
The sky is the limit! Use you imagination and come up with more valuable items to recycle.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
When talking to friends, neighbors and relatives, remember to tell them about Freecycle. The more people that sign up, the more items that can be recycled and put to further use. .
