I'm looking for a heritage sourdough starter or one that has been in the family for years, possibly from your parents or grandparents that you use regularly to bake sourdough bread. Years ago many San Franciscans, especially Italian and French families baked their own sourdough bread and hopefully there are people here in the city that have family sourdough starters that have been passed down to them. Old sourdough starters bake the best breads as they've been in constant use and are superior to the sourdough you get in the bakeries. Who here remembers Parisian, Colombo,Toscana and Larraburu sourdsough bread? These great bakeries are long gone and baked the best sourdough bread but todays sourdoughs lack flavor and character. Hopefully there are people here in San Francisco with old family sourdough starters they'd be willing to share a bit of the next time they proof their starter to bake. Thanks for your attention and response, Bill
