Hi! Have you recently done some home building or renovation and have some leftovers? I'm a disabled vet, haven't been able to keep a job for 6 years now thanks to mental or physical limitations (or both). l'm tired of going further into debt and will be moving into a trailer with my cat in 5 months. I'm getting close to buying the trailer itself, then it will be time for the conversion to begin, so I thought I'd post a little wish list here of materials I'll be buying if I can't scrounge them elsewhere (am also hunting craigslist and BuyNothing). Some of these are very specific Asks, but maybe someone's got remnants laying around from a recent project? Anything appreciated!
Wish list
- Fasteners with rubber washers or locking components to make sure things I attach stay put
- Rustoleum, to cover every potential rust spot
- Kilz, for every bit of wood
- Exterior paint to paint the trailer and make it less attractive to thieves--neutrals, earth tones, and jewel tones - paint supplies
- Acoustic/thermal insulation, preferably in batting form, preferably higher R-levels--often these are
- Mass Loaded Vinyl for soundproofing to help keep my cat from being too stressed, any depth (will use heavier weights at or near the floor and lighter in the ceiling)
- Flooring underlayment: vapor barrier, sound dampening, and thermal insulation--examples quietwarmth, or eco cork
- Radiant floor heating system for use under vinyl and laminate (have already sourced my flooring)
Electrical: solar panel(s), generator, batteries, panel, wiring--plan is to have options for 12V, 120, and propane
Plumbing: tankless propane water heater, two 30-40 gallon tanks, water pump, tubing, filters, valves
Tools: I have a quality cordless drill but would welcome anything that's going to come in handy--maybe a circular saw, angle grinder, oscillating multitool, belt or orbital sander
Just for reading this far, thank you. This process will hopefully help me get back on my feet, but the transition--and asking for help--has been overwhelming.
