REQUEST FOR DONATIONS: WINTER SHELTERS FOR STRAY CATS
Dear Friends, Neighbors, Local Businesses, and Animal Lovers,
I am reaching out to ask for your help with a project that is very important to me. I am working to build two safe, insulated outdoor shelters for approximately 12–13 stray cats who have no warm place to go during the cold winter months.
These cats depend on outdoor shelter for protection from freezing temperatures, wind, rain, snow, and other harsh weather conditions. My goal is to build sturdy, weather-resistant shelters that will keep them warm, dry, and safe throughout the winter.
? MATERIALS NEEDED FOR 2 SHELTERS
Wood & Construction Materials
● 10 pieces of 8-foot 2×4 lumber
● 4 sheets of ½-inch exterior plywood
● Exterior-grade screws
● Wood screws
● Roofing nails
● Metal brackets/corner braces, if available
Insulation & Warmth
● 4 large rolls/sheets of foam board insulation
● Insulation for the walls, floor, and roof
● 4 large bags or bales of clean, dry straw
● Please do not donate blankets, towels, or fabric bedding, as these can become damp and make cats colder.
Roofing & Weather Protection
● Roofing shingles or roll roofing
● Roofing felt/waterproof underlayment
● Waterproof exterior sealant/caulk
● Exterior wood paint or waterproofing/stain
● Hinges/latches if we make an opening roof for cleaning
Shelter Features
● Materials for approximately 3ft raised feet/base
● PVC or other material to help protect the entrance
● Two small entrance flaps/door covers, if available
● Heavy-duty outdoor tarp, if needed for additional weather protection
❤️ OTHER DONATIONS ARE ALSO GREATLY APPRECIATED
If you cannot donate building materials, donations of straw, pet food, outdoor water bowls, or monetary donations would also make a tremendous difference.
Even a small donation can help provide a warm and safe place for a cat that has nowhere else to go.
If you have leftover lumber, plywood, insulation, roofing materials, screws, or other construction supplies from a home project, we would be extremely grateful to put them to good use.
? EVERY DONATION HELPS
My goal is simple: to give these cats a safe, dry and warm place to survive the winter.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me protect these animals. Whether you donate materials, supplies, money, or simply share this request with someone who may be able to help, your kindness can make a real difference.
Thank you for helping me give these stray cats a safe place to call home. ❤️?
With gratitude,
Victoria Carro-Fernandez
