Hi, neighbors. I'm a college professor, and I have a senior I just found out has been doing her work on her cell phone since last winter when her laptop died. She is an exceptional student, and she lives in a city shelter over an hour from campus. The university covers her tuition, but she has to work two PT jobs to cover her living costs. She works in the campus computer labs when she can, but considering how she has to balance her PT jobs with classes and a long commute to a place that has very strict coming and going hours, successfully getting through the year without a laptop just seems impossible. Plus, she will soon be starting work on her senior thesis, which is a massive writing project. If anyone has a reliable laptop (nothing too old/slow/glitchy, please) they would be willing to donate, I (and I know she) would be so grateful. I could come pick it up anywhere in the general vicinity of Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Crown Heights, Clinton Hill, Fort Greene, Downtown BK, BK Heights, BoCoCa, Red Hook, etc. (and even farther, if I don't get any offers closer-by or for a particularly reliable/decent laptop)! Thanks for considering it. Please refrain from chiming in about other resources, how the university should be covering more, etc. I know... and it's all a mess and totally exhausting. Just looking for someone who has upgraded computers recently and wouldn't mind passing on their older one for a truly good cause. I can't provide a receipt or anything like that, but I could provide some verification of my employment, at least, if that helps. I could probably even get her advisor to write you an email confirming what I'm saying. Please DM me if you've got one to offer. Thanks so much. Omatokai
