But the Free Box concept isn’t just a local amenity, now across the globe people are linking up with The Freecycle Network, an online recycling program that facilitates the swapping of goods—people post items to give away, to gather, or post items wanted. Telluride’s own New Community Coalition run by Sustainability Coordinator Kris Holstrom has linked Telluride with Freecycle, expanding on our very own recycling program.
“When you want to find a new home for something—whether it’s a chair, a fax machine, piano, or an old door—you simply send an e-mail offering it to members of the local Freecycle group,” reads Freecycle’s site. “Think globally, recycle locally.”
