Will moderators be needed on the new system ?

Yes. 4,000 groups producing something like 65,000 emails per DAY could not be handled by a single group. For-profits can't do it (banks, shops, etc.) so how could a non-profit afford to?

This project isn't about reducing community involvement, but to increase it. Free up moderators so they can get more involved (if they want to!) or just spend less time in front of the computer. Be more flexible with the tools we offer. Allow people to advertise in more places (how about letting members display their open posts on their MySpace/Facebook page, forwarding their friends directly to the appropriate Group?) This first phase is the boring one - the real fun is yet to come.

> Is this all for nothing??

No. You can change the vehicle, but you'll always need a driver. :)
