Frequently Asked Questions

A Quick Q&A to the New Freecycle Site - Design/Layout

HOT KEYWORDS function.

(Just an idea - Not definate / implemented)

Basically, a list of key-words (set by the moderators of each group), When an email is received by the group:- :- It checks the key-words, & if the word is present in the email, the message is sent to the PENDING area to be checked by the group moderators. (regardless of the members posting status.).

NOTE:- this will be an Option - The group moderators do not need to turn this on.

What do I do if I get the message "The page isn't redirecting properly"?

Notify Richard in the OIDG.

Will there be a Homepage that will be customizable for each group? And where would that be, another tab?

Yes, local groups will be customizable. They'll become gradually more customizable as we get your input on the staging site. What would you like to see?

‘Group Info’ sounds like a good place to put it.

Will the new site support picture uploading?

Yes, it will be optional and can be turned off by each group. Groups can all have photos moderated.

Photos will be JPEG only and size (KB) limited.

a) Will groups staying with Yahoo have access to the new system photos?

No, Yahoo has their own area for photos.

When will the 'My Freecycle' be available to us?

This section is not currently usable, so has been removed from staging. It'll be back when
  1. it works, and
  2. has something worth looking at.

This tab is where members can view all their own postings, see the responses to their postings, change their password, etc.
