How do I find a group to join.

Step 1 - Find your local Freecycle group.

:- Go to our website, http://www.freecycle.org/ and click the BROWSE option in the top menu.

Please locate your country / area that you live in.

Step 2 :- REVIEW the list of groups in the area. These can be named after a city, large town, or major landmark.

Select your nearest group, & click on the words "Visit the [NAME OF GROUP] Yahoo!Group page" - This will take you to the Yahoogroup where most of the activity on Freecycle groups are conducted.

When you know the Yahoogroup home-page for your local group, you can proceed as shown below..

Step 3 :- JOIN the group.

There are two methods of joining the Freecycle groups.

A) Email only mode
===================

You can read/reply to emails and interact with other Freecycle members, however you can't access any of the group website features (EG files, polls, or previous messages prior to joining) - You do not need these extra features to participate in Freecycle

The email address to subscribe/join the group is near the bottom of the Yahoogroup home page for your local group (as above).

and

B) Online, via a Yahoo ID.
===========================

You can interact with other Freecycle members via email OR online, and have the ability to access the features on the group website / home page.

If you do not have a Yahoo ID and wish to obtain one, you can do so on the Yahoogroups website when you try & join the group online.

Please refer here for more information :- Yahoo group help pages (link to Yahoo)

When you are on the Yahoogroup home page - Click on 'Join the group" and follow the online instructions.

the group home-page should look like this - http://groups.yahoo.com/SampleFreecycle/ - replace "samplefreecycle" with the name of the Yahoogroup.
